Doctoral Researcher in Human-AI
Interaction with a part-time passion
for social sciences and politics
I'm a PhD student at Instituto Superior TĂ©cnico (IST), where I am affiliated with the GAIPS lab at INESC-ID. My research is centered around Human-AI Interaction, a multidisciplinary field bridging Artificial Intelligence, Human-Computer Interaction, and Psychology. Its primary goal is to examine the dynamic between humans and the emerging artificial intelligent agents in our society and devise strategies for enhancing this interaction.
Beyond my research, I have a keen interest in social and political sciences, which I nurture through extensive reading and spirited podcast binges. And when I need a break from all the brainy endeavors, you'll find me happily crocheting little amigurumi creations—because even the most serious scholars need a dose of whimsy!
My research is centered around the development of Responsible and Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence (AI) through the examination of Human-AI Interaction. I focus primarily on the Human-AI decision-making process, where humans, aided by AI recommender and decision support systems, collaborate to make informed decisions for specific tasks. My aim is to enhance this process, making human-AI teams more effective than either AI or human teams operating in isolation. To explore this dynamic, I delve into various areas, ranging from Explainable Artificial Intelligence to AI trust and Human Decision Making.
Furthermore, my research is a part of the Center for Responsible AI Consortium , which unites diverse AI stakeholders within the Portuguese ecosystem, including startups, industry leaders, and research centers. Our shared objective is to develop more responsible AI products.
